“HCYA Skills Camp”

June 13 and 14, 2013

Skyline Houston Juniors (SHAC) gym, 10775 Kempwood Drive, Houston, TX 77043

9:00-11:00am and Noon-2:00pm, with a one hour brown bag lunch break

Ages 8-13, beginner to intermediate skill level + high school beginner level players

Cost:  $40.00/day, $75.00 for both days

Please bring payment to camp

Led by HCYA former and current Varsity players with club level volleyball experience.

Late registration is accepted.

Please wear modest shorts, tennis shoes and socks, kneepads and tshirt.

Please bring water.  They do not have drinking fountains, but do have coolers to refill your drink container.

Please leave all jewelry at home.  Do not wear earrings.  No gum.

 

 


 

The HCYA volleyball program strives to develop Christian character and leadership in team members both on and off the court.  The teams are coached by knowledgeable and competent coaches who are dedicated to teaching the skills needed for competitive volleyball, but who also demonstrate and encourage Christian values and sportsmanship.  The HCYA Lady Eagle Volleyball program is directed by Mrs. Mary Schulze  ( )

 


 

The HCYA Organization

HCYA (Homeschool Christian Youth Association) is a non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation established in 1989 to promote opportunities in sports, academics, and social activities for homeschool students.

 

Participation
 
  • Competitive Volleyball
  • No set amount of time is promised or guaranteed for games
  • Grades 5 – 12
  • No experience necessary
  • All girls will be assigned a team after “tryouts” based on their skill level and age
  • Uniforms provided
  • Games begin in mid-August and the season runs through mid-October. 

    A season schedule will be given out in early August.

  • Compete against public, private & Christian schools, and other homeschool teams
  • At least one tournament per team (hopefully)
  • Cost/Season Fees:
$400.00 High School Team
$300.00 Jr. High Team
  $20.00 HCYA fee     SPRING school year
  $20.00 HCYA fee     FALL school year
  • ** Every player must join the HCYA organization.  This is not an option.  If you have joined through another HCYA organization, such as Sports Day, please complete the form and at the bottom note “joined at Sports Day”.  The $20 HCYA fee is per player.  There is no family rate for membership.
    Please write two separate checks  1) to HCYA for the membership fee, and 
    2) a check to HCYA for the season fee.
  • Second child discounts of $50 per child on the season fees stated above.
  • Season Fee helps pay for cost of gym rental, coach’s compensation, equipment, t-shirts, uniforms, referee fees, and tournament fees.
  • A payment plan is available:
  • Possible participation in National Homeschool Volleyball Tournament for a selected Varsity level team (this requires each player to pay an additional expense of $700 to $800 based on previous years).
                 Omaha, Nebraska, October 30 – November 3, 2013.
    To be allowed to participate in this tournament and trip, each player will be required to be willing to comply with the HCYA requirements and expectations. Details of these requirements and expectations will be provided later.

From Beltway 8, take the Kempwood exit.  Turn west, then turn LEFT into the first driveway. Travel about 50 yards.  The SHAC facility will be on your left.

Bring two water bottles.  This facility does not have drinking fountains, but does have water coolers to refill your water bottles.

Please arrive earlier than the stated practice time, at least 15-20 minutes prior to the time listed.

Please leave all jewelry at home.  No gum.

                           1:30-2:30 for high school players
                           2:30-4:30 all high school players

August 2              10:00-noon,  high school players' practice

August 2 & 3        Varsity Team Retreat, details to follow

August 5-8            NOON - 2:00,  all players

August 8               SCOREKEEPING CLINIC
                             ALL PLAYERS and parent volunteers,
                             please plan to stay and attend
                             2:00-3:00, (after 12-2 practice) in the lobby,
                            bring a brown bag lunch

Aug. 12                5:00-7:00pm, Junior High teams practice

Aug. 14               3:00-5:00,  all teams practice

August 19, 26      5:00-7:00, all teams

August 21, 28      4:00-6:00, all teams

August 27           4:00-7:00    High School games at Skyline,

        No practice on September 2, Labor Day
