ABOUT OUR VOLLEYBALL PROGRAM

The HCYA Volleyball program strives to develop Christian character and leadership in team members both on and off the court.  The teams are coached by experienced, knowledgeable, seasoned, and competent coaches who are dedicated to teaching the skills needed for competitive volleyball, but who also demonstrate and encourage Christian values and sportsmanship.

Lady Eagles Volleyball Camp Week 2024

HCYA Volleyball Camp Intensive - one week to put together all your hard work and show off your skills.  Culminating in team tryouts on Friday. Girls are trying to earn a spot on our competitive High School and Junior High teams.  Positions and playing time are not guaranteed - spots are earned thru skill, attitude, and hustle.

WHEN: May 6th - May 10th

WHERE: Hope Lutheran Church Gym
          1804 S. Friendswood Dr., Friendswood, TX

WHO:
**4:00-5:30 Grades 5th-8th (Eligible to try-out for Junior High Team - aged 10-14) **
**5:00-7:00 Grades 7th-12th (Eligible to try-out for a High School Team) **

Camp Cost: $125
Team Try-out Only (Friday Only): $25

TRYOUT INFORMATION

Thank you for your interest in joining our Lady Eagles volleyball team.  We are a competitive high school team.  Players earn their spot on the team based off of skill, performance, attitude, and hustle.  

TEAM TRYOUTS WILL BE ON THE LAST DAY OF CAMP.   *FRIDAY MAY 10th*

Not quite ready for team volleyball? What are the options if I didn't make a team?  Please consider joining our developmental program. We are offering one hour of instructional volleyball lessons through the summer. This program is for new players and those wanting to hone their skills.

DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The development program will be held before team practices.  This program is designed to teach volleyball skills to girls that are wanting to learn the sport or get better in hopes of earning a spot on a team.

• Tuesdays and Thursdays
• TIME: 4:00PM-5:00PM
• DATES: May 14th  thru August 1st
• Ages 9-18
• Hope Lutheran Church
• 1804 S Friendswood Dr, Friendswood, TX 77546 (Gym entrance located in the back of church). Practice location may vary.
• ALTERNATE  Practice Location: Upside Sportsplex, Alvin, TX
  Pay Attention to Dates and Time Changes:
  • June 18th, 20th, 25th, 27th from 2pm-3pm
  • July 23rd, 25th, 30th from 2pm-3pm
  • Aug 1st from 2pm-3pm

Development Program Cost

• $300 - All 25 summer sessions (package prorated)
• $15 - walk-in participation 
• $ 20.00 HCYA registration fee 2023-2024 school year (Sept.1-Aug.31) *if not already paid

What To Expect if You Make a Team:

TEAM PARTICIPATION

• Competitive High School Volleyball (Junior Varsity and Varsity)
• Playing time and positions are not promised or guaranteed for games
• Grades 7-12  (12-18 yrs old)
• Competitive Junior High Team
• Grades 5-8 (10-14 yrs old)
• Players may be offered a spot on a team after “tryouts” based on their skill level, age, positions needed, etc.
• Uniforms will consist of 2 team jerseys.  Girls will provide their own navy Under Armour athletic shorts and white knee pads.  No spandex.
• Practices will be twice a week on Tuesday and Thursday.
• 4-5:30pm  - Junior High Team
  5-7:00pm JV & Varsity
• Hope Lutheran Church, Friendswood, unless otherwise noted.
• ALTERNATE  Practice Location: Upside Sportsplex, Alvin, TX

• Practices and games are mandatory attendance, unless absences are noted with the coaches prior to the event.
• We will compete against public, private & Christian schools, and other homeschool teams.
• Intend to have a variety of games and tournaments built into the schedule, including three travel tournaments, Aggieland (College Station),  State (Grapevine) and Nationals (Lawrence, KS).
• Practices begin in May, games begin in August and the season ends the middle of October.

TEAM FEES

• $500 per player (JV & Varsity)
• $300 per player (Junior High)
• $150-$200 - Practice and game jerseys  (Depending on order) 
• $ 20.00 HCYA fee 2023-2024 school year (Sept 1-Aug. 31)
• **Required participation in fundraising events (T-shirt sponsors, etc)
• ** Every player must join the HCYA organization. Please contact the Webmaster if you have any questions. 
• Volleyball Season Fees help pay for cost of gym rental, coach’s compensation, equipment, referee fees, and tournament fees.
• All fees must be paid in full at the time of accepting a position on the team.
