About Us

The Warrior basketball program was started by Tom Sanders and Troy Prasatik in the spring of 1992 from the roots of HCYA's Sports Day program for homeschool families.

One junior high team and one senior high team competed at the State Homeschool Tournament that first year. The following fall, a limited number of games were arranged against small, local Christian schools. Our teams competed in the State and National Homeschool Tournaments.

Today, more than 70 registered homeschool athletes, both male and female, from elementary through high school attend practices two to three days a week, September through March. Our goal and priority is to provide an example and teach Christian character through the game of basketball.  While teachig skills and concepts for development and growth, players implement these skills through intramural play, scrimmages and live games. Our teams compete against other homeschool teams, as well as private, Christian and public schools.

Each year, Our teams compete at the Texas Homeschool State Basketball Championships as well as District, Regional, and National tournaments hosted by the National Christian Homeschool Championships.

The  current program is led by a vast number of committed volunteers and program supporters. Funding is provided through fees, fundraisers, summer camps, and personal / corporate donations.

Over the years, the Warriors have won many tournaments and our teams have frequently ranked 1st or 2nd in their divisions at the National Christian Homeschool Basketball Tournament.

Our 10U Boys Team competed at Nationals this year (2025) and won the Undisputed National Championship.  Leading up to that tournament the 10U Boys won 5 out of 6 Tournaments in preparation to compete at the National level.

Several players from previous years have gone on to play at the Collegiate and Professional levels.

Christian Character is our Standard and Excellence is the desired outcome and Goal of our program.  But, the greatest outcome is Christian development of our players and creating a community that nurture and seek to truly support and build local homeschool families. We are building on the legacy of HCYA leaders and families that came before us.
