HCYA Sports Day is an intramural physical education program for homeschool students ages 6–18, proudly serving families for over 40 years.
We meet twice a month on Friday mornings in a fun, safe, and active environment. Our six large indoor basketball courts are divided into areas for multiple sports and games, giving students plenty of space to run, play, and practice new skills.
Sports Day is more than just exercise—it’s an opportunity for children to build teamwork, develop sportsmanship, and make lasting friendships with other homeschool students. Whether your child is a beginner or experienced athlete, they’ll enjoy learning, competing, and having fun in a supportive community.
Come join us and see why Sports Day is a favorite activity for homeschooling families in our area!
Sports Day is from 8:30a-11:30a with drop off at 8:15a
Please pick up your kids promptly at 11:30!!

Sports Day is a cooperative program created for homeschool families to enjoy group sports and friendships. It is not a drop-off childcare program.
Volunteering is not required, but it is greatly appreciated, as Sports Day depends on family involvement to run smoothly. We understand that parents with younger children may have limited availability, and we do offer some volunteer opportunities that allow flexibility.
Because space is limited and all areas are used for activities, we kindly ask that parents do not stay to watch unless volunteering. Seating and space are reserved for students.
Thank you for your understanding and for helping make Sports Day a positive experience for everyone!
*Please see agreement below. This will be required to sign during the registration process.
Group divisions are based on the students age as of September 1st of the current school year.
(Students DO NOT change groups even if their birthday occurs during the school year, NO EXCEPTIONS)
For details on the games and how to play, please see the attached PDF. If your family is new to Sports Day, this will be especially helpful for older students.
Students are expected to play by Sports Day rules. While alternative ways to play may be suggested, any changes are at the discretion of the coach or teen staff. Keeping the rules consistent each year helps ensure fair play and more fun for everyone.

I feel really blessed that Sports Day exists. It provides an opportunity for my children to socialize and exercise in a Christian and homeschool environment. My experience as a volunteer has been very fulfilling. It allows me to give back to the homeschool community and watch my children interact with others and have fun! ~ Noella F.
Volunteering alongside my four grandchildren at the bi-monthly or so Sports Day throughout the school year has been an incredibly rewarding experience. As an adult "grandparent" volunteer, I had the joy of watching somedays over 299 children participating, well organized by age groups and guided by cool-kid friendly trained leaders, engage in a variety of fun and energetic camp-style games. The thought through, setup with supplies, structure for processing kids in each time and enthusiasm of organizers for the program made it easy to jump in, with just my desire to help and support my kids, whether cheering them and others on, or helping with tracking a smaller group of kids and assisting the leader on the activities. It was heartwarming to see my grandchildren look forward to going, thrive in such a positive, active environment, encouraging them to build friendships and confidence. The staff’s dedication and the thoughtful planning behind each session made every Sports Day feel special. I’m was grateful for the opportunity to be part of something that brings so much joy and growth to the children—and to me as well. Looking forward to next school year. ~Vincent G.
Sports Day was one of the first homeschool activities our family plugged into after moving to Houston from out of state. My kids look forward to seeing their friends and playing fun games, and I appreciate the time for them to get in some physical activity while having fun! Being a volunteer has been a great experience. There are some amazing parent volunteers who keep Sports Day running and make sure it's fun for all the kids. Volunteering feels like a fun break from my normal day (and the discount on fees is a great perk)! ~ Anonymous Adult Volunteer
